Move-Out Cleaning: A Practical Handover Checklist
A smoother property handover starts before the cleaning visit. This checklist helps owners, tenants and property managers agree on the work and avoid last-minute confusion.
Confirm the handover requirements
Request the property manager’s cleaning checklist and walkthrough date. List the rooms, appliances and surfaces that need attention. Agree which cupboards, appliances and storage areas will be empty and accessible.
Finish the move before the clean
Arrange furniture removal, rubbish disposal and repair work first where possible. Confirm that water, electricity and access will be available. Tell the cleaning team about lift bookings, parking restrictions, keys and any remaining belongings.
Describe the condition honestly
Photograph the space and flag heavy buildup, stains, delicate finishes or damage. Cleaning and repair are different tasks; agree how each will be addressed. Do not assume carpet treatment, exterior windows, waste removal or repair work is included unless the quote says so.
Leave time for a final check
Book a walkthrough after the clean and before keys change hands. Check the agreed task list, record any remaining concerns and keep the final photos. Follow product labels when doing your own touch-ups, and never mix cleaning products.
Planning a move-in or move-out clean? Send AAE Cleaning the address, property size, condition and handover date. The scope and quote are confirmed before booking.
